St. John's & St. Mary's Institute of Technology, founded in 1967, is the successor institution to St. John's University (1879) and St. Mary's Hall (1881), both founded in Shanghai by Bishop John Schereschewsky of the American Episcopal Church. In 2005, the Institute was granted the status of the University of Technology (St. John's University of Technology).
The institute is dedicated to serving society and others with a goal of nurturing qualified and competent professionals with humanitarian awareness.

SJSMIT Campus, located at town of Tamsui, is an hour from the Taipei City by the MRT. Nestled between the mountains and the ocean, it is endowed with a wealth of natural beauty, providing our students with a tranquil and attractive learning environment.
Student Services and Facilities
The Office of Technology Cooperation provides employment information and assistance in searching out opportunities for further study in Taiwan and abroad. The main services are: Employment Counseling, Advanced Study Counseling, Career Planning Guidance
The Student Affairs Office serves for their life and health both physically and mentally. The facilities in our campus include: athletic field, stadium, courts for basketball, volleyball, baseball, and tennis; swimming pool, health center, counseling center; cafeteria and restaurant.
The Chaplain's office and School Church with full-time chaplain and counselors, in association with the Student Counseling Center and the Rector's Office, provide support to students and faculty in handling spiritual, psychological, emotional and peer relationship issues. In addition, there are regular fellowship, choir meetings and bible studies for spiritual uplift and to enrich the life experiences.
